Looking at the exploded view, I think you were on the right track with the clips. Part #19 is a spring clip so maybe it pulls out to release the globe?

OK I really ratcheted the shit out of that thing and all I've done is scratched the hell out of the brass rim. The rim is so tightly held that I can barely twist my flathead in the slot without it retracting back to it's original position like some dwarf technology shit.

OK going to give this a shot even though I've got it dangling about an inch after the pull down method.

Haha, all he had to do was grab the bulb cover and pull down. Have you seen the videos he posted of him ripping the entire unit out of the ceiling? This is hilarious.

I have this same lamp/fan fixture at my apartment. Took me 15 minutes to figure it out. Mine took a lot of pulling, so it felt like I was going to break it when I was getting it out.

Someone below had the best exploded diagram. The light glass housing alone pulls straight down. They're held in with clips that you gently release once revealed. I truly hope OP sees this before going insane. Sometimes the right solution is actually the simplest.

I've tried twisting and pulled and wedging it every which way and I don't want to break it but it's starting to get embarrassing with company

Are you trying to twist the cover or the metal rim? It looks like maybe the metal rim unscrews and releases the white cover.

I looked around for a while but didn't find anything near that fancy. One that was similar said the remove the grill first. Most fans use two tension springs that look like rabbit ears to hold up the lightweight plastic parts. With yours, that would entail pulling the wood part straight down while leaving the light globe in place. This should expose three screws that will allow you to remove the globe. Report back when solution is found.

That's a no go on pulling downward on the wood rim; it feels like it's going to break or something. Looking around the brass ring around the top of the dome there appears to be some small inserts. I tired wedging a flathead in all of them but the ring just retracts back into place. Link for reference

I have this one in my bathroom. Took me forever the first time I took it off. The glass globe just pulls straight down, but you gotta pull hard as a motherfucker. Get a good grip on it with you fingertips and pull straight down. No twisting and nothing with that brass ring.

"Remove the glass lens which is attached by two leaf springs. Use a small flat head screwdriver to pry the glass lens from the grille. Screwdriver can be inserted into one of the small slots on the perimeter of the glass lens. To avoid scratching the surface of the grille the screwdriver can be wrapped in a thin cloth or tissue. Reach over lens and push in on springs to release. Grille is held by two screws along rim or a single nut in the center."
